The KettleHouse Guide: A Quiet Place to Stay After the Show
There is a reason why the KettleHouse Amphitheater in Bonner, Montana, is consistently ranked as one of the Top 10 Outdoor Amphitheaters in the country. Nestled along the banks of the Blackfoot River, it offers a world-class concert experience with a rugged, Big Sky soul.
But as the last encore fades and the crowds surge toward the parking lot, the "post-concert headache" usually begins: traffic, noise, and cramped city hotels.
At The Hohnstead, we offer a different rhythm. Located just a scenic 25-minute drive from this iconic venue, our handcrafted cabins are the ultimate digital sanctuary for a nervous system reset after a high-energy show.
Before the Show: The Local Secret
If you want to start your evening like a local, head to the KettleHouse Brewery located right next door to the amphitheater.
The taproom is separate from the venue. Stop by the brewery first for their customer favorite — Cold Smoke® Scotch Ale (This beer is ideal for those seeking a flavorful, non-bitter, and slightly robust, dark ale.)
PRO TIP: The beers are a bit cheaper than the amphitheater prices inside, and the atmosphere on the patio is the perfect "pre-game" vibe before the gates open.
Sometimes, you may luck out with a tasty Food Truck at the brewery.
The Logistics: Getting There and Back
The Drive: From our 100-acre retreat, it’s a straightforward 15-minute drive to Bonner.
Bag Policy: Remember, the venue is strict. Only clear bags (12" x 6" x 12") or small clutches are allowed.
Ear plugs: Can be purchased on site.
Chairs: No leg chairs are allowed, or can be rented on site.
Other rules: No umbrellas, no signs, no sprayable sunblock, no weapons of any kind, no outdoor beverages, not even sealed off water bottles.
Hydration: You can bring an empty reusable water bottle to fill up at the stations inside.
Food: Kettlehouse Amphitheater is home to not one but two on site bar locations with food, drinks, and additional vendors offering snacks, ice cream, and more.
The "Montana Layer": Even in the peak of July, the temperature in the canyon drops fast once the sun goes down. Bring a light jacket or flannel—you’ll be glad you have it for the ride back to your cabin.
Why The Hohnstead is the Best Lodging Near the KettleHouse
Most concert-goers end up in a noisy hotel in downtown Missoula. By choosing The Hohnstead, you’re choosing intentional stillness:
A Digital Sanctuary: Our cabins are Wi-Fi free zones, allowing you to trade your screen for the stars the moment you get back.
Dog-Friendly Post-Concert: Don’t leave your pup in a tiny hotel room. At our resort, your dog can wake up to 100 acres of off-leash exploration the morning after the show.
The Stargazer Finish: Imagine coming back from a show and watching the Milky Way through the glass roof of our Stargazer cabin. It’s the encore you didn't know you needed.
