The Transforming Forest Cabin | Hand-Built A-Frame near Missoula

Hand-built A-frame glamping cabin with a rope-operated wall at The Hohnstead near Missoula Montana.

The Soul of the Cabin

The Transforming Forest Cabin is our most interactive sanctuary. A 160-square-foot footprint distilled into 80 square feet of intentional symmetry, this cabin is designed for those who want to live simply and see everything. The soul of this space is the manual, rope-operated wall—a "human-powered" feature that allows you to physically open your room to the deep quiet of the 100-acre forest.

The Details

  • The Space: 80 sq ft of geometric, hand-built intentionality.

  • The Rest: Two cozy single beds that can be kept separate or pushed together for a shared experience.

  • The Essentials: Off-grid and quiet. Includes a small coffee/tea stove, a curated library, and solar power for your basics.

  • Climate: Real & Rustic. When the wall is open, the mountain air is part of the room. We recommend bringing a warm layer for evening stargazing.

Shared Rituals & Amenities

Your stay includes full access to the communal heart of The Hohnstead:

  • The Commons Area: 24/7 access to a full kitchen, lounge, Wi-Fi, and solar showers.

  • The Hot Tub: A 2-seater soak under the stars, just a short walk through the pines.

  • Forest Rituals: Traditional archery, wood splitting, and our self-guided property scavenger hunt.
